Part 1

In Episode Four, Part I, the COSP team welcomes Juliette Sicot-Crevet, the VP of Business Development in Naturals and Sustainability at Firmenich, one of the biggest flavor and fragrance houses in the world. The team is excited  about exploring what co-creation can look like between indie perfumers and industry leaders to achieve their shared vision for a more sustainable future. Juliette shares two of the programs that Firmenich is implementing as part of their sustainability strategy: EcoScent Compass and Create for Good. The episode wraps up with a discussion of the role synthetics have to play in lessening the burden on overharvested naturals and creating more sustainable fragrances.

Part 2

In Episode Four, Part II, the COSP team continues their conversation with Juliette Sicot-Crevet, VP of Business Development in Naturals and Sustainability at Firmenich. They delve deeper into the subject of how the fragrance industry can move away from the use of petrochemicals in the production of synthetic scent molecules. The team learns the difference between “green” and “white” chemistry and how these biotechnologies are being used to reduce the high demand on endangered and threatened species. Juliette explains the supply chain of sustainable agriculture and biotech, from conscious consumerism to the ethical disposal of products through biodegradability. The COSP team looks forward to future discussions with Firmenich as we continue to investigate sustainable solutions across the industry.
