EPISODE 6: Parts 1&2

Camino Verde

COSP had the pleasure of interviewing Robin Van Loon and Olivia Revilla from Camino Verde, a reforestation NGO located in the Peruvian Amazon in Tambopata Province. Camino Verde funds their reforestation initiatives through the sale of sustainably produced non-timber forestry products. Olivia and Robin explain the drivers of deforestation and its impact on forest ecosystems and communities. From losing traditional knowledge about medicinal plants to shifting values placed on exports and the influence on food security, Robin and Olivia provide a broad overview of the consequences of deforestation and how the Camino Verde team is working to restore this biologically rich ecosystem.

ENDORSEMENTS

“COSP is an important initiative that will serve to bring non-judgemental scrutiny to the impact that perfumery is having on the environment while providing the resources and knowledge that people need to make conscious choices. The initiative’s strength lies in part in its reach. By being accessible to individual independent perfumers and industry leaders alike, it will serve to impact the sector, as a whole.”

Saskia Wilson-Brown, The Institute for Art and Olfaction

“The Coalition of Sustainable Perfumery is an organization of passionate independent perfumers who are looking to this to aide makers and brands in defining the breadth of ‘Sustainability.’ COSP has created an opportunity for the fragrance industry as a whole to account for the progressive strides that have been taken within the walls of the major players, and help apply these same great standards across the board.”

Travis McIntosh, Perfumer’s Apprentice
